The Nutritional and Nutraceutical Sciences major is concerned with understanding the contribution of food, beverage and nutritional supplement consumption to growth, development of optimal biological function, maintenance of health, and treatment of disease.If lacking the fundamentals of word processing, spread sheet use and data management, the student should select CIS1200 Introduction to Computing as early in the program as possible.Offered within the Department of Human Health and Nutritional Sciences, this major will provide you with a broad grounding in the biology of nutrition, physiology, pathology, pharmacology and nutraceuticals.Tackle nutrition related problems in the food, pharmaceutical and natural health product industries by gaining an understanding of how nutrients, phytochemicals, toxins and food processing products affect the human body.

The secondary school graduation certificate which would admit a student to an internationally recognized university in their home country is normally acceptable for admission to the University of Guelph.Students presenting predicted, interim or midterm grade 12/senior level results may be considered for a conditional offer of admission if all prerequisite courses are completed or in progress and meeting the minimum grade requirements. International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma with 6 subjects: 3 Higher Level and 3 Standard Level with a minimum score of 28. Bonus marks from TOK and EE will be taken into consideration. Prerequisites for the major must be taken at the IB DP2 level.Note: For programs with Advanced Math, students must present one of: SL/HL Analysis & Approaches, or HL Applications & Interpretations. Math Studies/Standard Level Applications and Interpretations are not an acceptable prerequisite for programs that require Advanced Math or Calculus.
