Taking Biological Sciences as a major or minor as part of a BSc/BEd combined degree allows you to study a diverse mix of science-based courses, giving you a broad background in biology and the life sciences and preparing you to teach at the junior high and high school level. Areas of study include Biology, Botany, Bioinformatics, Cell Biology, Entomology, Genetics, Immunology and infection, Marine Science, Microbiology, Neuroscience, Paleontology, Pharmacology, Physiology, and Zoology. This combined program allows you to complete two degrees from the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Education , a Bachelor of Science (with Specialization) and a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) , in just five years, preparing you to become a high school or junior high teacher in your area of expertise.The Faculty of Science at the University of Alberta delivers high-quality programs that investigate, explain, and explore the real science behind issues that affect our daily lives.
