This Business – Marketing diploma prepares graduates for a variety of career opportunities in the exciting field of marketing. Students will build and demonstrate the skills needed to work in a wide range of organizations.

This learning experience will enable you to:

Use the building blocks of a marketing plan to analyze the market, the customers and the competition

Describe the purpose and value of effective market research and design

Develop integrated and consistent communication strategies and solutions that will engage customers and help companies grow their brands through direct, digital, mass and social media channels as well as public relations and sales promotion.

Participation in extracurricular activities allows students to build on their knowledge and skills while networking. These activities may include:

  • Ontario Colleges Marketing Competition
  • Vanier BDC Case Challenge
  • Enactus George Brown
  • Speed Mentoring events
  • Great Canadian Sales Competition
  • Ad Week

PROGRAM STANDARDS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to:

Contribute to the development of an integrated marketing communication strategy for marketing products, concepts, goods, or services based on an identified target market.

Contribute to the development of pricing strategies which take into account perceived value, competitive pressures, corporate objectives, and cost analysis.

Contribute to the development of strategies for the efficient and effective distribution of products, concepts, goods, and services.

Determine strategies for developing new and modified products, concepts, goods, and services that respond to evolving market needs.

Analyze results of marketing activities using criteria related to budgeted sales, costs, profits, and other appropriate criteria.

Contribute to the development of a marketing plan including marketing objectives, marketing mix, marketing strategies, budgetary considerations, and evaluation criteria.

Develop strategies to establish effective working relationships with clients, customers, consumers, co-workers, supervisors, and others.

Communicate marketing information persuasively and accurately in oral, written, and graphic formats.

Analyze the viability of marketing products, concepts, goods, or services in an international market or markets.

Participate in conducting market research to provide information needed to make marketing decisions.

Develop personal professional development strategies and plans to enhance leadership, management skills, and marketing expertise.

Participate in the development of a business plan.

Apply the principles of business ethics and corporate social responsibility.

Use professional sales techniques to make a sale.

Adapt to and apply various and changing technologies, systems, and computer applications used in marketing environment.

Have graduated from senior secondary school or equivalent (those applying for a postgraduate program must have graduated from a university or college)

Be 17 years of age or older at the time of registration

Applicants with transcripts from an institution where the language of instruction is not English may meet English language proficiency requirements with one of the following proofs of language proficiency.

  • George Brown English for Academic (EAP) Program - Level 8
  • IELTS (Academic) - 6.0, minimum 5.5 in each skill band
  • TOEFL - 80 (online) minimum 20 in each skill band
  • MELAB – 80
  • PTE (Academic) - 54, overall minimum; 50 in each skill band
  • CAEL - 60 (overall)
  • Cambridge English Exams (B2 First, C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency) - 169 or more (with no individual skill below 162)
