The Religions and Cultures program explores the religious cultures of our global society and the power of religious ideas in shaping us and our worlds. Religious ideas have brought down governments and contributed to global conflicts at the same time, they’ve inspired some of the most heroic and unselfish acts of care and concern for others. In this program we investigate the major religious traditions of the world, as well as the role of religious ideas and values in culture, politics, art, media and popular culture. Our courses look at religion in relation to the Paranormal, Violence, Non-Violence, Cults, Gender, the Environment, Politics, Atheism, Death and Immortality, Animals and Evil to name just a few.Students who are admitted to a degree program with Concurrent Education, and who complete their Nipissing Honours degree, including the Concurrent Education specific courses, by the end of April, will transition into Years 5 and 6 of the Bachelor of Education professional years. All courses required for the Honours undergraduate degree and/or teachable subject requirements must be completed by May 1 of the year for which the BEd Year 5 transition is being made.
