With an Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) Diploma you can find rewarding work anywhere in BC and beyond. And work in early childhood development gives you reasons to smile every day. There is a huge demand for early learning and childcare skills in BC. With the VIU ECEC diploma program you get an ECE certificate, and you get specialization in Infant and Toddler and Special Needs. These specializations mean you’ll graduate with in-demand skills and the qualifications for more work opportunities. The ECEC program gives you the knowledge and skills to work with young children and their families in childcare settings. You will go through a series of theory classes and practicums that will help you integrate childhood development theory into practice.

Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Proof of English Language proficiency is required from any country or citizen where English is not the official or first language.
For students who meet the academic requirements but not the English language requirement, conditional acceptance to VIU may be granted. In this case, admission is granted pending completion of VIUs English Language Centre program (level AP5 for undergrad and Grad Prep for Graduate programs). Exceptions may apply.
International students who are BC high school graduates must have a minimum grade of “C” in English 12 for direct entry into an academic program.
