The'SPMEIprogramhasbeendevelopedinconsultationwithcommunityrelationsand'sustainabilityexpertsfromindustry,Aboriginaladvisors,aswellasleadingthinkersandpractitioners.Theprogram'structureemphasizesthebalancethatmustbe'soughtbetweencommunitydevelopmentaspirationsandbusinessconstraints.Castingacriticallensonthe'sometimescontentiousrelationshipbetweenthegoalsandmethodsofgovernment-industryandthoseofcommunities,whosewaysoflifearemostaffectedbylarge'scaleindustrialprojects,theprogramscurriculum'supports'studentsindevelopinginsightintotheroleofcultureasit'shapesvalues,perceptionsofrisk,andreceptivenesstoextractiveprojects.
