Master of Science (MSc) in Psychiatry Research

The Psychiatry Department at Dalhousie University offers both an MSc and a PhD in psychiatry research. These graduate programs equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed as professionals in research areas pertaining to psychiatry and mental healthmental illness. The MSc coursework covers relevant current topics including clinical trials genetics neuroimaging participatory research psychotherapy research early interventions and personalized psychiatry. The PhD coursework includes advanced statistics and an experiential psychiatry course. Students in both programs will improve their skills in critical appraisal study design statistics data analysis and scientific writing. For the MSc each student will complete an independent Masters thesis research project. For the PhD each student will complete comprehensives as well as doctoral dissertation research.
