Ontario College Certificate in Film and Motion Design – Media Fundamentals

In this program, students explore visual storytelling through a range of media, including photography, video, animation, and motion graphics. The curriculum introduces students to the history of motion, image sequencing, video production, 2D and 3D animation, and 3D printing techniques. With a strong focus on hands-on learning, students gain practical experience using industry-standard tools and technology. Field trips enhance this learning by offering access to unique industry spaces, such as Durham College’s Motion Capture Studio, local film locations, and creative media facilities, where students get a behind-the-scenes look at professional production environments. This foundation year also provides insight into five key programs within the Faculty of Media, Art and Design: Animation – Digital Production, Game – Art, Graphic Design, Interactive Media Design, and Video Production. Students build a diverse, portfolio-ready body of work showcasing both technical and artistic abilities – ideal for applying to advanced programs or launching a creative career path.
