As a photography major, the focus of your study will be a professional sequence in illustration photography or photojournalism.Illustration photography encompasses studio images for advertising, commercial use, fashion, portraits, and magazine illustrations for print and the web. Photojournalism is a draw to photographers who like the excitement of being in the field as stories unfold, capturing image-often with sound and text-for newspapers, magazines, and multimedia.Housed in our distinguished visual communications department, the Newhouse School's photography program is where you gain the skills to take your creative vision to the next level.As a photography major, you’ll be prepared for a creative career in photography and video production, learning the principles of light, concept and storytelling, using the latest technology and methods, and finding your unique visual voice.
