The Surgical Technologist functions as a member of the surgical team anticipating the needs of the surgeon, passing instruments and providing sterile items in an efficient manner. This program provides graduates with the knowledge and technical skills to obtain entry level employment in hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, clinics, urgent care facilities, and private surgeons offices. Students receive a balanced education in both theory and clinical practice.STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMESExplain skills and techniques in the operating room that support surgical conscience.Develop a system to prepare, maintain, and protect a sterile field efficiently.Function as an entry-level surgical technologist in the health care setting.Demonstrate competencies necessary to prepare for the Surgical Technology National Certifying Examination.
