The Department of Journalism & Public Relations, which is accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications (ACEJMC), offers undergraduate programs that prepare students for careers in journalism, public relations and other editorial and storytelling-related industries. Students take courses that provide both a strong theoretical foundation and hands-on training in the skills they need to be successful communications professionals in the 21st century. The major consists of 48 units. All majors are strongly encouraged to pursue a minor and complete as many internships as possible. Pursuant to current University policy, no one majoring in Public Relations may also double-major or minor in a program offered by the Department of Journalism & Public Relations.
