Bachelor of Arts in Applied Mathematics / Master of Science in Applied Statistics

A 5-year program that combines a B.A. in Applied Mathematics with the M.S. in Applied Statistics. Students will receive both degrees, receiving the B.A. after four years and the M.S. after the fifth.The College of Arts and Sciences (A&S) is Syracuse University’s first and largest college. As the home of the liberal arts, our internationally recognized programs provide the cornerstone of a Syracuse University education with 50+ majors in the natural sciences and mathematics, the humanities, and the social sciences (in partnership with the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs). B.A. Applied Mathematics is best suited as a second major for a student with a passion for Science, Technology, or Engineering. It emphasizes the breadth of applications of Mathematics and its computational aspects, including the principles of mathematical algorithms that drive technological innovations. This program of study contains more courses that focus on computations and algorithms (such as MAT 331) than the courses that focus on proof-writing (such as MAT 375).
