STEM-classified degree: graduates are eligible for 3 years of Optional Practical Training (OPT) in the USA. Students choose a degree focus in either community-based health outcomes, health legislation and regulation, integrated care, or Spanish and health. In the BS program in health sciences, students learn about health care systems and how systems are financed and structured. Leadership and professionalism are highlighted along with the role of providers in delivering evidence-based care. Ethical and effective communication skills are also developed. Today's challenges are analyzed, leading graduates to develop innovative solutions.Students choose focus areas in community-based health outcomes health legislation and regulation integrated care or language, speech and communication.A limited number of students each year may apply to pursue the echocardiography certificate through Mayo Clinic after taking prerequisite courses. Once the certificate is completed, students may transfer the credits to ASU and apply credits toward their Bachelor of Science program in health sciences. Interested students should seek advising before starting coursework.
3.0 GPA or equivalent. Must have three years of high school coursework. (If you are currently in high school, ASU needs to see 9–11 grade coursework. If you have completed high school, ASU needs to see 10–12 grade coursework.) Must have and present a completed high school diploma or certificate.
