Our Master of Arts (M.A.) in Mathematics provides an opportunity to pursue advanced study in mathematics and develop the skills to help lead you to success in today's technologically-oriented society. Whether the goal involves applying mathematics to solve problems in business and industry, teaching in higher education, preparing for further graduate study in mathematics or related fields, or working in a rapidly the growing field of big data analysis as a statistician, this program enables each student to pursue a course of study that is appropriate for their interests.To address these varying interests, we offer three concentrations: Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, and Statistics.

Describe how you might use this program to advance your career (educational goals beyond the master's level, if applicable, are also relevant).Two letters of recommendationLetters of recommendation should be from professional administrators and include information which attests to applicant's ability to pursue a graduate degreeMinimum undergraduate cumulative GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale)Applicants are expected to have completed at least 16 semester credits at the undergraduate-level in Mathematics, including subjects such as Calculus through Vector Analysis and Linear Algebra.For those planning to pursue the Pure Mathematics track, applicants must have completed Differential Equations in addition to upper-level undergraduate mathematics including Modern Algebra and Introduction to Real Analysis.For those planning to pursue the Applied Mathematics track, applicants must have completed Differential Equations. Computer programming skills are highly recommended.For those planning to pursue the Statistics track, applicants must have completed a basic statistics course.
