Rowan University’s Master of Arts in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Education prepares students for successful careers as highly skilled math and science teachers. The M.A. in STEM Education offers the unique opportunity for students who have undergraduate degrees in mathematics, engineering, or the sciences to pursue an initial New Jersey teaching certificate in mathematics and/or the sciences and a Master's degree simultaneously. This program is carefully designed such that all coursework has a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)focus that provides the ideal pedagogical preparation for prospective mathematics or science teachers in the K-12 setting.

Describe how you might use this program to advance your career (educational goals beyond the master's level, if applicable, are also relevant).Two letters of recommendationLetters of recommendation should be from professional administrators and include information which attests to applicant's ability to pursue a graduate degreeRecommended minimum undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale)Certificate Program AcknowledgementSubmission of official test results demonstrating passing scores on all Praxis II Exams required for specific licensure areaInterviewFoundation Coursework Required (Undergraduate/pre-requisite coursework required prior to admission or concurrently with program enrollment)Eligible applicants must have successfully completed the following undergraduate foundation courses at an accredited institution with a minimum grade of “C-”.Students in this program are required to meet admission course requirements in either K-12 Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Earth Science, Mathematics, Physical Science, or Physics NJ state certification subject areas.
