The Master of Science in accountancy (MSA) provides an advanced professional plan of study designed to prepare individuals for careers as professional accountants. Students learn the skills and knowledge needed to enter the accounting field and to form a foundation for advancement to the highest levels of the profession. As data analytics reshapes the accounting profession, SIUE’s AACSB-accredited MSA in Business Analytics prepares you to lead that transformation. You’ll build expertise in accounting analytics, database management, forensic accounting, and data visualization - applying tools like SQL, AI-assisted analysis, and audit analytics software to real-world accounting problems. Graduates are also prepared to sit for the CPA Exam in Illinois and most other states and, through SIUE’s partnership with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), have the opportunity to complete the IIA Internal Audit Academic Program - a distinction available at only a select number of universities nationwide. Employers across public accounting, corporate finance, nonprofit and government agencies are actively seeking accountants who can work with data at scale - making this one of the most forward-looking paths in the profession.
