Our in-person, JRCERT-accredited Master of Science in Medical Dosimetry program is ideal for those without a radiation therapy background who are interested in pursuing cancer care, as well as radiation therapists seeking professional advancement within the radiation oncology field.
In small classes and during supervised rotations at top hospitals in the greater Boston area, you’ll get hands-on training in the latest planning technology from expert board-certified dosimetrists and physicists. Once you graduate, you’ll be eligible to sit for the certification exam offered by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board. As a student in Suffolk’s Master of Science in Medical Dosimetry program, you will:
Use cutting-edge software and technology to design optimal 3D, IMRT & VMAT plans for treatment of patients living with cancer, Take up to 16 credits of leveling courses if you don’t have a background in radiation therapy, Complete a 3-week rotation in proton treatment planning, Cultivate strong communication and critical-thinking skills to work efficiently and professionally with all members of the care team, Collaborate with clinical research mentors to develop and conduct a publishable research study, Learn how to incorporate evidence-based, ethical practices for decision-making to provide safe and effective care for patients.
The MS in Medical Dosimetry program (MSMD) is a full-time program and includes one summer semester of a required academic internship in a clinical setting.

All applicants to the MS in Medical Dosimetry program must meet the following minimum requirements:

Bachelors degree
3.0 cumulative GPA

Completion of the following pre-requisite courses with a grade of C or higher:

Calculus I
Physics I & II with labs
Majors Biology with lab
Anatomy & Physiology I & II with labs

English language requirements

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Suffolk welcomes both the TOEFL iBT and TOEFL Essentials. To be considered for full admission, a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 80, with no sub-score lower than 17, or a minimal TOEFL Essentials overall band score of 8.5, with no subsection below 8, is required; International English Language Testing System (IELTS). A minimum score of 6.5 (with no sub-score below 6.0) is required to be considered for full admission. PTE-Academic (Pearson Test of English). A minimum score of 65 is required to be considered for full admission. Duolingo. A minimum score of 110 is required to be considered for full admission, along with the following subscores:

  • Literacy: 110
  • Conversation: 100
  • Comprehension: 120
  • Production: 85

Application deadline: Fall semester: International applicants: July 15, then rolling; Spring semester: International applicants: December 1, then rolling.
