The fully accredited bachelor’s program in mechatronics and robotics engineering at SIUE is one of few of its kind in the United States. Students in the mechatronics and robotics engineering program create intelligent devices by combining principles from mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and computer science. Our graduates are helping shape the future by designing smarter cars, autonomous farm equipment, industrial robots and more. As automation and robotics become more prevalent, demand for engineers with specialized knowledge in these areas grows. The field of mechatronics and robotics engineering has emerged to meet this need, combining mechanical and electronic expertise to create optimal designs. Mechatronics and robotics engineers possess the interdisciplinary knowledge necessary to oversee the design and development of intelligent devices, ensuring they are efficient and reliable. This integrated approach allows them to manage mechanical, electrical and control aspects seamlessly, rather than handling them separately. The mechatronics and robotics engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.
