ماذا سوف أتعلم؟

In the Philosophy Department, we cultivate habits of thinking critically and communicating effectively about significant matters to help people live more attentive, responsive, creative and meaningful lives. Students with a major in philosophy select: art and creativity ethics and social justice or an individualized emphasis. We also offer a minor in philosophy (which may be completed fully online). Students who choose philosophy as their second major, or students who minor in philosophy, may satisfy a significant number of requirements through completion of GCP (Global Citizenship Program) courses. The philosophy degree programs at Webster University specialize in understanding the world and preparing to change it for the better. Students develop a strong background in philosophical concepts and theories, as well as high-level skills of critical analysis, effective oral and written communication, collaborative problem solving, ethical reasoning, and attention to what helps or hinders making people's lives more meaningful and equitable. Graduates go on to work in a wide variety of fields, including business, finance, media, education, healthcare, nonprofit advocacy, technology, social work, counseling, law, and many more.

Students must completed high school or from a home school program.

Freshman applicants are expected to complete a college preparatory secondary school program with at least 19 units of academic credit. The University strongly recommends the following distribution:

English: 4 units

History/Social studies: 3 units

Mathematics: 3 units

Foreign Language: 2 units

Science (two laboratory): 3 units

Fine Arts: 1 unit

Academic electives: 3 units

Applicants most likely to be admitted will have a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, and a class rank in the top 50 percent of their high school class, if applicable.
