At the academic heart of ASU, this program is part of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the university’s largest and most diverse college. Its world-renowned faculty include 15 National Academy of Sciences members, 3 Pulitzer Prize winners and 2 Noble Prize winners. The Bachelor of Arts program in civic and economic thought and leadership incorporates the study of political philosophy, economic thought, history, and foundational texts and ideas in American politics. Faculty teach using the Socratic method, which challenges students to analyze the complex topics that impact lives today. Students refine their ability to read closely, think analytically, write carefully and speak effectively. Students have internship opportunities on Capitol Hill, in congressional offices in their district, with nonprofit organizations or in an area of their academic interest. These internships enable students to build their resume with professional experience and network with potential future employers. Global intensive experiences allow students to study in places such as Romania and India. They also engage with world-renowned scholars who visit ASU through the school's public programs.
